The Social Action Committee helps put Ascension’s mission into action by supporting a number of local, national, and global ministries. From collecting peanut butter and jelly for the local food shelf to assembling Blessing Bags for the Joint Urban Ministry Project’s clients to sending handmade quilts abroad—these are all ways in which Ascension’s families show love and concern for our neighbors. Educational opportunities abound through invited speakers and films and Ascension’s ties to our sister congregation, Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, Palestine. The congregation is also committed to advocating for our neighbors through programs such as Bread for the World, ONE, and Lutheran World Relief.
