Bells of Ascension Handbell Ensemble Bells of Ascension was founded in 1982. Ten to twelve musicians, teenagers and adults of all ages, are welcome to participate. It is helpful to be able to read music, but not mandatory to join the group. The ensemble rehearses for one hour and fifteen minutes three times each month on Wednesday evenings starting at 7:15 p.m. The major goal of the ensemble is to ring challenging, liturgically appropriate music in church once or twice each month. However, the ensemble has preformed at various events outside of church services including weddings, funerals, cultural events, concerts, ecumenical events, and other social events.
Bells of Ascension belongs to the Handbell Musicians of America and attends the Vermont Spring Ring each April. The ensemble has been featured during the Christmas season on Vermont Public Radio. Their first CD recording, "Times and Seasons," was made in 1998. The ensemble now rings five octaves of Schulmeric handbells and six octaves of Malmark Handchimes. |
